Enhancing innovation potential through new governance and funding models for NBS

The third day of the  #Transforming Cities18 dedicated to the topic “Enhancing innovation potential through new governance and funding models for NBS” aims to explore the scope for replication and/or scale up of NBS projects, including synergies and trade-offs between different dimensions of their impact; developing and planning deployment of specific measures that maximise cost-effectiveness and co-benefits; exploring what kind of new business and investment models are necessary for the large-scale deployment of NBS.

The last day of Transforming Cities 18 will start with a plenary session on financing and business models for nature-based solutions introduced by Siobhán McQuaid (Trinity College Dublin). The panel will count with the participation of Kristyna Pelikanova (European Investment Bank), Jan Rassmusen (City of Copenhagen), and Jean-Marc Tacnet, (IRSTEA).

At 10:00,  the second panel session of the day wil be coordinated by Niki Frantzeskaki (Dutch Research Institute for Transitions), with the participation of Katrien van de Sijpe (Genk City Council), Marino Cavallo (Cittá Metropolitana di Bologna) and Alice Reil (ICLEI –Euroe), who will discuss on the topic of “co-creation as governance for embedding nature-based solutions in cities”.

Transforming Cities 18 will closures with a final session which counts with the participation of several policy representatives, such as José Juan Díaz Trillo, President of the Climate Change Commission at the Spanish Parliament, José Manuel Silva Rodríguez, former European Commission’s Director General for Research and Innovation, Spain; and María Garcia Gomez, A Coruña City Council, moderated by Ricardo García Mira, University of A Coruña and current member of the Spanish Parliament.

Adina Dumitru and Niki Frantzeskaki will present the final conclusions of the European Dialogue on nature-based solutions and the next steps “towards a roadmap for Research and Action on a reference framework for NBS”.
