International Meeting on Strategies to Address Climate Threats and Conflicts
The CITEEC will host the third meeting organized by the UDC’s Person-Environment group, focusing on the urgency of mitigating these risks.
On November 13th and 14th, from 9:30 am to 6:30 pm, the 3rd International Research Meeting organized by the Person-Environment research group of the University of A Coruña will take place. Under the common theme of “Strategies to Mitigate Threats and Risks Caused by Climate and Conflicts,” researchers from Spain, Brazil, Mexico, the United States, Great Britain, and Palestine will gather.
From a multidisciplinary perspective, the meeting will address various relevant topics. On November 13, topics will range from the impacts of climate change on health and the need to adopt more sustainable lifestyles to the relationships between urban planning, architecture, and climate, as well as the energy transition and sustainability.
On November 14, other topics related to current war conflicts will be presented, including emergency management and housing responses. Two experts on the Gaza conflict will discuss the current situation and the need to propose a project for land planning and resettlement housing for displaced populations affected by the conflict.
This edition comes at a time when, unfortunately, the recent DANA disaster in Valencia has highlighted the importance of scientific knowledge for Spanish citizens. Research is essential both for preventing and mitigating the risks generated by climate and conflicts. The Person-Environment research group hopes that people interested in these topics will attend the meeting sessions. Attendance is free, but pre-registration is required via email to cristina.garcia.fontan@udc.es.
